A round table on arbitration was held on 24 October 2017, involving representatives of the International Arbitration Court of the Czech Commodity Exchange (Dr. Vít Horáček, Dr. Vladana Vališová), of the Arbitration Court attached to the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic (Prof. Marie Karfíková, Prof. Květoslav Růžička), of the Czech Moravian Commodity Exchange (Ing. Jaromír Čermák), and of the plenum of the International Arbitration Court of the Czech Commodity Exchange in Paris (ICC – Prof. Alexander J. Bělohlávek).
The objective of the round table was, in particular, to point out the need for a “Renaissance” of arbitral proceedings, so that arbitration became the best solution to business disputes. Emphasis was placed especially on the requirements for high quality of arbitrators, their responsibility and ethics of decision-making. As a separate topic, the participants discussed a possible co-operation among permanent arbitration courts which could contribute to improvement of arbitration.
